Two amusing Britishisms, and a weekly dilemma

I just got an email reminding me of the fartleks that are taking place tonight, and that I should go! I was scared to Google it... Then I realized that it was from the cross country team, and it's some sort of running drill. Fartleks. It's not every day that you get that word as the subject line of an email!

And yesterday, my tutor was trying to explain a cyclical genetic process by explaining that it was like a"Paper, scissors, stone" game. I guess there aren't any rocks in Europe, just stones.

Every week, I sign up for the Mind and Body class at the gym, and every week I wonder why. It's so goofy! We listen to loud, inspirational music about how happiness is everywhere and the world is beautiful, and our instructor narrates our stretches and poses to the lyrics, and she "oohs" and "aahs" a lot about how everything is wonderful. We do absurd Yoga poses with our butts in each other's faces, or we try to support all our body weight on our hands, or we do the "Sun Salutation", "Intense Pose", and "Warrior Wand". The best part is how seriously everyone else in the class takes it, though- I can't even laugh! But the problem is, the stretching and yoga and peppy-ness always make me feel better. And I already paid for a gym membership, so the class is free. Guess I'll go again.

I hear it's raining in LA. It's raining here, too. Twins!
